What are your thoughts on the hot dog eating contest at Coney Island? While I thought the announcers were very funny comparing the eventual champ to great Americans like Abe Lincoln, Neil armstrong and taylor hicks(this really cracked me up) I was still a bit disturbed that this type of abuse of food is tolerated by so many folks. I am not soapboxing and honestly I have no objections to be people who get a kick out of it but in the end watching someone eat close to 70 hot dogs in 10 mins then get sick is a tad disturbing on a lot of levels. I guess i didn't realize that this type of "sport" was so organized and competitive. I think of it as a picnic goof. I'm sounding like my father more and more every day.

Like I said i'm out of the loop on how serious this gets. When I think of hot dog eating contests I think of Fink finally beating "the stomach" in the movie Meatballs.

As my grandfather used to say, "I might not be able to cut the mustard, but I can lick the hell out of the jar." Never understood that...he must have really liked mustard?

I can't imagine why anyone would want to do that to himself.

You could easily make this dead related. However, given the amount of negative feedback on the guitar.com article "humor", I'd hold off on the obvious connection.

Although I do remember an entry a while back about someone seeing Jerry down a bunch of dogs backstage at a Go Ahead show (He was appparently there to just watch).

Crap. Just connected. Fire away.

This is totally unrelated to drinking as many beers as you can before you puke, right? Come on, let's shoot a few.

damn, that's nasty too (never mind a terrible waste of a fine beverage)

however, passing out in one's chair "without" puking is perfectly acceptable

;)
